黑木居酒屋
Markham · Langham Square
An izakaya, the way it is at home.
Binchotan-grilled yakitori, hand-cut sashimi, and seventy-two sake by the glass. Open the door, lower your shoulders.
Our Room
A small room, low light, an old grill.
Tucked into Langham Square, Kuroki is a small room of dark cedar, paper lanterns, and a single binchotan grill at the pass. The menu reads the way an izakaya is meant to: skewer by skewer, small plate by small plate, with a sake list that rewards slowing down. Reservations are recommended; walk-ins find a seat at the counter when the night is kind.

What they say.
The tsukune with the quail yolk is the single best skewer in the GTA. The room is quiet. The sake list is serious.

A real izakaya in Markham. Counter seats, charcoal smoke, and a chef who actually looks at you when you order.

Came for the otoro, stayed for the umeshu. Two hours felt like twenty minutes.
